You Don’t Have to Experience “Major Trauma” for EMDR to Help

Many people believe EMDR is only for severe trauma or PTSD. While EMDR is highly effective for those experiences, it can also be helpful for events that may seem smaller but continue to affect how you think, feel, or respond in daily life.

Experiences such as difficult relationships, stressful life transitions, work-related stress, or painful memories from the past can become “stuck” in the brain and continue to influence emotions, beliefs, and behaviors. EMDR helps the brain process these experiences so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity.

Through this process, many clients begin to feel relief from distressing memories, gain new perspectives on past experiences, and develop greater emotional resilience moving forward.
